African stories are rich in cultural, creative, and commercial value. Yet too often, that value remains locked in single-format book sales.
 
The Mashariki Creative Economy Expo 2026 Literary Rights Marketplace is designed to help change that. It will create a curated space where authors, publishers, literary agencies, and other rights holders can present selected works to potential buyers and partners interested in African stories for reprint, translation, audio, digital, educational, and screen adaptation opportunities.
 
Use this form to submit one literary work for consideration in the marketplace catalogue and rights trading sessions. producers, broadcasters, translators, investors, and other rights buyers seeking African stories and intellectual property for licensing, adaptation, and distribution opportunities. 
 

Submission does not guarantee selection or a rights deal, but it helps us identify works with strong potential for cross-border circulation, adaptation, licensing, and long-term value creation.

Before you begin: This form should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Please prepare your book details, short description, author bio, rights information, and book cover image before you begin.

Suggested preparation checklist:
  • Book title, ISBN, publisher, publication date, genre, page count, format, and language
  • A short book description of up to 100 words
  • A short author bio of up to 50 words
  • Book cover image
  • Information on rights already sold and rights currently available
  • Contact details of the rights owner or rights manager
